COOKIE OPERATION NOTICE – PURSUANT TO ART. 13 OF EU REGULATION 679/2016

Below we transparently inform you about the operation of so-called cookies on this website (hereinafter “Site”), in compliance with Directive 2009/136/EC and the related measure of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante Privacy) no. 229/2014.

Definition of “cookies”.

Cookies are short fragments of text (letters and/or numbers) sent by the Site and stored by your browser on the specific device you are using (computer, tablet, smartphone), containing information to be reused during the same visit to the site or later, even after several days. Cookies are stored according to the user’s preferences.

Furthermore, with the introduction of HTML5, various forms of local storage and similar technologies are available, such as web beacons and transparent GIFs, which can be used to collect information on user behavior and choices and on the use of services.

In this document, for simplicity, we will use the term “cookie” to refer to cookies and all similar technologies.

Types of cookies

Based on their characteristics and use, cookies can be divided into two macro-categories:

Technical or session cookies. These are cookies essential for the correct functioning of the site and are used to manage login and access to the site’s restricted features. The duration of these cookies is strictly limited to the work session (they are deleted when the browser is closed), with the exception of longer-lasting cookies intended solely to recognize the visitor’s computer/device for a limited period – through an alphanumeric code generated at the first access session. Disabling them compromises the use of services accessible via login. The public part of the site normally remains usable.

Also included in this category are so-called “analytics cookies“, but only if used in aggregate form to collect and analyze traffic and monitor the site’s performance and usage anonymously. These cookies, without identifying the user, make it possible, for example, to detect whether the same user returns to connect at different times. They also make it possible to monitor the system and improve its performance and usability. These cookies can be disabled without any loss of functionality.

The use of such cookies is permitted even without the consent of the data subject.

Profiling and marketing cookies. These are persistent cookies used to identify (anonymously or not) the user’s preferences and improve their browsing experience, creating specific profiles, and are used to send advertising messages in line with the choices expressed by the user while browsing the network.

This site does not use cookies of this type.

Third-party cookies

When visiting a website, one may receive cookies both from the site visited (“first-party”) and from sites managed by other organizations (“third-party”). The management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by the respective notices, which you are kindly requested to refer to. To ensure greater transparency and convenience, the table below lists the types and web addresses of the various notices and the methods for managing third-party cookies.

Social Buttons

The site uses particular “buttons” (called “social buttons/widgets”) depicting the icons of social networks (for example, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and other websites. These buttons allow users browsing the sites to interact with a “click” directly with the social networks and other websites depicted therein. In this case, the social network and other websites

acquire data relating to the user’s visit, while the data controller will not share any browsing information or user data acquired through its own site with the social networks and other websites accessible via the social buttons/widgets.

Cookie duration

Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or the logout command is executed. Other cookies “survive” the closing of the browser and are available during subsequent visits by the user. These cookies are called persistent, and their duration is set by the server at the time of their creation. In some cases an expiration date is set, in other cases the duration is unlimited. With the exception of those cookies whose information is stored solely for technical purposes, this site does not use persistent cookies.

However, while browsing the pages of the websites, one may interact with sites managed by third parties that may create or modify permanent and profiling cookies.

Cookie management

Users can decide whether or not to accept cookies using their browser settings.

The setting can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. Furthermore, the best browsers allow different settings to be defined for “first-party” cookies and for “third-party” cookies. Through the options menu of the browser in use, it is possible to manage and define whether or not to accept the different types of cookies and proceed with their removal.

Warning: the total or partial disabling of technical cookies may compromise the use of the functionalities of the areas of the site reserved for registered users. Conversely, the usability of public content is possible even by completely disabling cookies. Disabling “third-party” cookies does not in any way affect navigability.

We also remind you that by completely disabling cookies in the browser, the user may not be able to use all the interactive functionalities.

Communication and disclosure of data

Data collected using cookies may only be processed by personnel specifically authorized and by data processors. In addition, such data may be communicated to third parties, only if specifically appointed as data processors, for the performance of certain services connected to existing relationships (e.g. consultants, service companies).

Data collected using first-party cookies will not be disseminated and will not be transferred to third parties. Data collected using third-party cookies may be transferred outside the European Union, in particular to the United States of America.
